The San Juan Educational Foundation is dedicated to improving education for San Juan’s children and teenagers. One of their interesting programs involves rewarding teachers who teach in innovative ways that improve the students’ love of learning. The idea is prepare these students to compete in the global economy. The teachers who manage to be innovative in their teaching and inspire their students are awarded $5,000, an attractive bonus, by the San Juan Educational Foundation.

In addition, there are approximately 27 universities in Puerto Rico with have about 40 more branches in various locations.

Many of these programs are private institutions supported by private donations. Even the San Juan Educational Foundation, which operates at the elementary and high school level, relies upon private donations.
